The Utility Operator (UO), is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of their assigned equipment and the processing of Regulated Medical Waste and Profiled Waste in accordance with the established plant operating procedures.
The Utility Operator will work under the supervision of the Supplemental Waste Program Manager or delegate and follow direction of the Lead Equipment Operator. The UO will operate various mobile equipment such as a forklift, street sweeper, and automated feed system. The UO must be able to follow instructions and work within a team environment. The UO will monitor vehicle activity on the tipping floor, record data, report equipment malfunctions and conduct equipment inspections. Paint, cleanup work, and various other tasks assisting in maintaining the grounds and housekeeping of the facility.
The Utility Operator must be able to work in a noisy, hot, humid and dirty environment. UO may be required to work various shifts, overtime and call-ins as needed. The UO must be able to read and understand all company environmental and safety policies/programs and written instructions/procedures.
High School Diploma/GED, 1 to 3 years industrial experience, valid driver's license, good mechanical aptitude.
Must pass a pulmonary function exam and qualify to be fit tested for respirator use. Must have the ability to lift 50 lbs. and carry it the distance of 100 yards.
