General Summary

Performs routine technical support of local, metropolitan and wide area networks and cloud-based networks to include planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting operating solutions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

  • Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks, including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and network management systems*
  • Monitor network connectivity and ensure high quality data transmission*
  • Analyze local and wide area network systems, to include testing*
  • Resolve routine interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms *
  • Configure communication media with routers, switches, firewalls and other devices
  • Assists in planning, researching, evaluating, designing and developing plans for network systems
  • Conduct internal studies and research
  • Assist in the support acquisition of hardware and software, as well as, subcontractor services as needed
  • Provide technical support to various departments and users
  • Serve as liaison with vendors and other third-party providers

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate certification
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP Routing and Switching Certification
  • Knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls
  • Knowledge of SolarWinds
  • Knowledge of Cisco Identity Services Engine and 802.1X
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products to include Visio
  • Knowledge of layer 2 switching, such as access interfaces and 802.1q trunking
  • Experience with OSI 7 layer model
  • Experience with Static, Dynamic, and Layer 3 routing
