Project Engineer

Project Engineer with great technical skills, project management experience, and customer orientation needed to work with new and existing projects at our Design Development Center! In this role you will lead a cross-functional team through manufacturing development projects while effectively managing budget, scope, schedule and risk; facilitate communication between the customer, different functional areas and Phillips-Medisize production facilities; manage / strengthen relationships with the customer.

* Learn and understand the Design Development Process and tools and the interdependencies of the different functional areas.

* Lead injection mold tooling programs from design, through tooling procurement and validation.

* Coordinate, direct and lead engineering efforts to ensure optimum engineering of projects/programs to meet customer and manufacturing requirements

* Create, monitor, maintain, and communicate the project scope, schedule, cost, and risks, ensuring that the entire team understands their role in the project success.

* Manage clinical builds from early concept development through the clinical build process.

* Direct and provide technical input to the project team and/or Program Manager (if applicable)

* Serve as the project lead for our customers while ensuring appropriate engineer-to-engineer communication is occurring between the project team members and their customer equivalents, as applicable.

* Create, review, and approve manufacturing documents and changes via the ECO/DCO process and route for customer approvals.

* On smaller projects, provide project management and technical direction to a small team.

* Manage multiple injection molding inprojects simultaneously.

* Lead and/or co-facilitate a team through root cause analysis efforts.

* Implement technical solutions to meet customer and Phillips-Medisize cost, quality, and delivery expectations

* Be the single point of contact for the customer when working on capturing repeat, replacement or expanded scope business. Work with the Business Development Team, Customer and Cost Estimating to generate new or updated proposals.

* Provide strong project management direction to development teams:

* Create and/or provide direction for proposals and verify alignment between customer needs and the proposal. Review customer purchase orders against the proposal.

* Facilitate project set-up and resource management by requesting resources from respective area managers, for specific scopes of work, and monitor team resources during project execution.

* Maintain cost control and profitability through interaction with the accounting group, sales and our customers. Work with appropriate financial personnel to generate financial status reports for communication and approval by the customer.

* Ensure that the PMC production facilities are interacting with the development teams as required

* Manage the technical procurement needs of internal and external services/resources such as; contract personnel, purchased components, equipment and prototypes, etc.

* Support product compliance by working with Quality to:

* Adhere to facility and corporate quality systems, SOP's & WI's

* Know and understand personal role in compliance to ISO 13485 w/ design controls, and ITAR as required.

* Review and approve appropriate drawings, specifications and documents through the ECO/DCO process.

* Facilitate appropriate multi-disciplinary involvement in the creation of characterization or verification tests.

* Generate and control planning documents according to relevant work instructions

* Facilitate communication between team members, customer and PMC production facilities

* Travel to Customer and PMC facilities as required to support business needs

* Some programs may have vision requirements

Qualifications - Education & Experience

* B.S. degree in engineering field with 3+ years of related experience or equiv. combination of education/experience

Demonstrated experience in managing budget, scope, schedule and risk.

* Strong and diverse technical manufacturing skills including injection molding tooling, materials, quality, and product design

* Leadership skills including ability to lead and coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines while maintaining customer confidentiality. Responsibility may include direct supervision of technicians and mentoring/leading engineers

* Strong organizational, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

* Ability to use CAD (SolidWorks) to determine if tooling, equipment and part designs meet requirements

* Confident, educated decision making and prioritization skills

* Ability to develop and meet project schedules and financial goals, along with contingency plans

* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

* Familiar with ISO 13485 or other regulated environment.

* Ability to accurately quote design, tools/equipment, and parts

* Experienced, respectful negotiation skills

* Fluent in Microsoft Office programs including Project, Excel, Word and Power Point.

* Demonstrated broad understanding of capabilities and technologies of other PPC facilities, suppliers, and customers
