Position Summary and Essential Duties:

To plan, organize, direct and control all efforts relative to the design, definition, development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, applications, projects and programs.

Job Specific Information:

* Responsible for architecture best practices and alignment to the IT systems model

* Leads discussions on architecture styles, patterns and solutions for bringing acquired technology to FedEx standards

* Prepares project reports and presentations for executive management according to the program management discipline employed in the department

* Implements the quality improvement process (QIP), supports the work of quality action teams (QATS), and determines appropriate processes for benchmarking throughout the organization

* Technology and/or vendor selection, delivery and ongoing maintenance, compliance and continuous improvements

* Understand current/emerging industry best practices while coordinating with the appropriate business

* Standardization of Processes, Tools and Procedures

Skills/Knowledge Considered a Plus:

The MD position will be a member of the Senior Management Team, reporting to the EVP or SVP IT Information Technology.

* Travel will be required predominantly within the US and European Region.

* The MD position will operate within the International Application Development organization and the successful candidate will plan, organize, direct & control Enterprise Architecture functions within Information Technology for the International regions. Divisional representative to the International regions for their Enterprise Architecture needs.

* The MD position will be responsible for HR approved Manager span of control, each with direct responsibility for ten to twenty-five Individual Contributors (depending on grade & status).

* Responsibility for stakeholder engagement within the respective areas; Business Partners, IT Services and IT

* International (functions, geographies, IT Region and Domestics).

Relocation assistance may be available for this position, but is based on business decision.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in computer science, math or business or related field with emphasis in a quantitative discipline. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements. Extensive experience in systems development including design, development, implementation and maintenance of large batch or online transaction based systems. Experience in the majority of the following: mainframe, distributed systems, client server, relational systems, transaction and message systems, embedded systems, imaging and systems management and operation. Previous management experience, strong leadership, human relations and communication skills required.
