iland is looking for an experienced Software Licensing Program Manager with demonstrable IT software asset management, procurement and sourcing experience to join our team. The Software Licensing Program Manager provides business value by enabling license optimization while ensuring compliance. In essence, the person in this role will carry out the day-to-day operational activities related to providing program/project management for software license throughout their lifecycle.

Our ideal candidate has a strong technical aptitude and has proven record of being a subject matter expert in the area of software license management. The role ideally will be located in our Houston, TX headquarters, but we will consider highly-qualified remote candidates as well.

Responsibilities

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on software license procurement, sourcing and vendor management by owning the A-Z lifecycle management of software licensing
  • Assist management teams in negotiating contracts and agreements
  • Track license consumption and spending, explore different ways to be more efficient, provide forecasting and budgeting
  • Accountable for understanding the different vendors' license models and related terms, while tracking and analyzing KPIs and Product Business metrics against company-wide goals to determine product success and whether objectives were met
  • Identify existing contract terms and conditions that can be improved
  • Detailed understanding of building cost and pricing structures. In depth knowledge of third party software licensing structures and pricing schemes such as Microsoft, VMware, and others. Ability to read extensive licensing documentation, and in turn maintain and define company's evolving customer facing service schedules.
  • Lead the implementation, improvement, and maintenance of processes and methodologies for tracking, documenting and reporting of license management, including procurement and decommissioning
  • Communicate, and work with other internal departments such as: Product, Financing, Technical Engineers, Legal, and Sales to help them find new opportunities to grow the business while optimizing software license consumption on the backend
  • Working with our Engineering teams to continuously improving the automation of our asset management systems in order to maintain an accurate inventory and accounting of all assets and their components
  • Provide advisory services to various business units on how software licensing impacts projects and operations
  • Refreshing our license keys with the corresponding vendors
  • Understand, track, and maintain our Vendor Maintenance & Support Contracts including the escalation processes
  • All other duties as assigned.

The following skills represent the minimum requirements to be considered for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in management information systems, accounting or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience on IT/Asset Management Software Licensing, Financial Reporting, Supplier Management, and Procurement with both technical and contractual exposure
  • Working knowledge of Software Licensing, VMware and Microsoft certifications preferred
  • Deep understanding of software technology, licensing, compliance, and controls with the ability to understand and interpret software license agreements and contracts
  • Familiarity with Software Asset Management (SAM) and/or IT Asset Management (ITAM) processes and systems
  • Project planning, reporting, and tracking framework
  • Experience on SPLA programs including Microsoft licensing structure applied to Cloud Service Providers
  • Strong ability to influence and collaborate with a diverse set of teams and roles
  • Self-starter capable of working independently with minimal supervision and highly motivated
