Institutional Analytics & Informatics Vision:
Enable informatics and analytics across service lines by providing the right information to the right people at the right time with the right tools. The Institutional Analytics & Informatics team is focused on building the infrastructure and creating the capabilities necessary for sustainable clinical data delivery. With ongoing changes in the national health care environment, data will be increasingly required to optimize medical practice. Effective health care delivery must be of high quality and at a reasonable cost. Clinical information management using enterprise-wide vocabularies, data modeling, business intelligence solutions and natural language processing are key enabling technologies. We are the enterprise data architects and infrastructure experts.

This Sr. Data Modeler is responsible for transforming complex healthcare data (Epic) structures, processes and activities into data architectures, models, diagrams and documents in support of the delivery of complex information centric information technology solutions. In addition, the Sr. Data Modeler will design, develop and support enterprise data warehouses, applications from which data is extracted and particular domains.
- Requirements Gathering:
The Senior Data Modeler ovsersees the gathering, review, interpretation of functional requirements and translates these into clinical information applications. Develops and manages relationships with the business users to ensure strategic use of the institution's data assets. Leads the efforts with clinical specialists to confirm and assess the current list of Vocabulary elements, Common Data Elements (CDE's) used for Vocabulary and Ontology needs. Leads the Institutional
Analytics and Informatics Teams in developing vocabularies and ontology. Applies informatics best practices and knowledge in the areas of information/technology standards, ontology, information extraction (such as NLP), and data mining.
- Vocabulary Development:
The Senior Data Modeler is an expert with industry standard ontology and vocabulary tools, best practices and techniques. Establish / enforce the Enterprise information architecture standards through the development of vocabularies and ontology. Leads the review completed vocabularies to ensure quality and integrity and alignment with institutional goals. Perform Quality Assurance of clinical informatics content for documentation, as required
- Metadata Management
The Senior Data Modeler leads the development of clinical naming standards, consistent data definitions, data aliases and documenting the business rules of the enterprise. Ensures the business metadata definition of all data attributes and entities are electronically catalogued in the metadata repository and that the data asset metadata is accurate and available to those who need it. Actively participates in the identification of data and solution patterns as well as taxonomies.
- Enterprise Data Management
The Senior Data Modeler assists in the development of policies and procedures for the creation of an Enterprise Data Management Framework and systems interoperability including mapping artifacts to a data architecture framework and managing data / message requirements in an Enterprise Application Integration environment. Assist in the enforcement of Data Governance standards, policies and procedures. Promotes future and present system functionality by designing, building, and testing the enterprise clinical information systems

The Senior Data Modeler performs specific tasks or projects at the discretion and direction of the Director, IAI, project manager, and the managers within IAI. Promotes the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in healthcare setting.

MD or PhD
Seven years of modeling experience plus six years' experience with Software Development Lifecycle methodologies. May substitute require education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Three years of experience in in an academic health care setting.
Knowledge of healthcare information systems, EMR, Clinical Decision Support Systems, Big Data, Precision & Personalized Medicine
RDBMS -Oracle, Sybase, SQL, MS SQL, TripleStores, SPARQL
HL7 V3 standards such as Clinical Documents Architecture (CDA)
