The Sales and Service Associate position acts as the first line of contact for customers as the enter our banking center. This is a sales position with a primary focus on business development and relationship building through the promotion of deposits, consumer/commercial loans, residential loans, investment sales, fee-based services. The Sales and Service Associate is responsible for selling a full range of banking products and services to existing and prospective customers while providing high quality of customer service and adhering to all compliance and operation expectations.

The right candidate is expected to be a team player and support other members of the Bank as needed. They should also be able to structure their tasks and manage time effectively, with a keen mind on prioritizing.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining knowledge of all Bank products and services.
  • Consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals for consumer/commercial loans, residential loans, deposits, investment sales, fee income, and others as set by management.
  • Acquiring, retaining and expanding new and existing customer relationship by providing a positive new account experience, profiling, assessing customer needs, and recommending and selling appropriate banking products and services.
  • Planning and executing branch tactics that support business development efforts for the market, under the direction of the Branch Sales/Service Manager.
  • Referring prospects and current customers to other lines of business according to determined segmentation.
  • Executing all operation responsibilities relative to opening and maintaining all products and services.
  • Providing quality customer service to all current and prospective customers as measured by bank service standards.
  • Taking ownership for handling complex customer inquires and follows through to completion.
  • Adhering strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with the Bank and regulatory standards, policies and procedures; reporting control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events.
  • Completing other related duties as assigned, including providing guidance and training to less experienced personnel. May be required to act as teller and open/close the branch.
  • Reviewing customers account activity in order to insure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Ensuring individual actions do not lead to Bank operating losses as well as escalating potential concerns that could lead to Bank loss to appropriate supervisor.
  • May be responsible for the daily review of Overdraft, Uncollected and Significant Balance Change reports.
  • Ensuring preventive measures are carried out to fully comply with current rules, regulations and internal policies relating to risks pertaining to BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and other AML related issues.

Functional Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
Must be a team player, have the ability to work under pressure, have a professional image and be able to resolve problems and conflicts. Must possess basic business communications skills such as advanced writing, listening and have basic office and mathematics skills, and customer service skills. Possession of professional skills such as report writing, basic statistics, effective presentation skills and creative skills are required. Must possess sales and negotiation skills.

Minimum Education and/or Certifications Requirements:
High School or GED required. AA or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Insurance, Series 6 and 63 licenses desirable. English required and certain markets may require second language skills.

Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

A.College degree and 2 years retail sales experience.

OR

B.Two years in equivalent position within the banking industry

Technical and/or Other Essential Knowledge:
Basic report writing ability, organizational skills, telephone skills. Previous experience with Outlook, Internet and MS Office Skills, including MS Word Level II, MS Excel Level II and MS PowerPoint Level I required. ​​
