Sales Engineer


The Sales Engineer works to support sales and ensure customer satisfaction by providing application, technical and product support to customers and attain profitable business. Provide technical and commercial support for the sales process, including preparation of commercial/technical proposals and documents that define preliminary application, product or Control System Design, hardware requirements, training, etc.

Essential Functions/Duties:

The Sales Engineer works closely with Customer Service, Quality, Procurement, and Operations in the following functions:

* Provide objective technical application support via email, over the phone or in-field support directly with customers.

* Provide technical support for internal customers and distribution network.

* Develop proposals including product selection and pricing.

* Provide training and support to external customers and authorized representatives.

* Process technical specifications, terms, and conditions for job proposal and contracts that includes preliminary Application, Product or Control System Design, and hardware requirements.

* Use engineering studies and design documents to generate basis of design documents for successful projects. Consisting of Application and Site details for mounting, measuring, installation, and on-site training upon completion of project.

* Review of existing customer installations, retro-fits or upgrades to look for process improvements and related economical justifications.

* Understand and anticipates customers' needs and provides Company solutions to meet those needs. Those solutions may involve new product development.

* Provide technical support for sales employees, representatives and customers and for information to internal customers with training and/or technical papers


* Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

* Backup applications support for other Amot sites.

* Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.

* Work independently and employ effective time management skills.

* Over-time as required.

* Up to 25% travel required, includes possible international.



* Required: Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field

* Preferred: 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment as a sales, applications or design engineer

* Incumbent should be interested in growth towards an outside sales position.

* Knowledge & Skills:

* Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office products.

* Ability to calculate pressure differentials.

* Prefer technical writing ability with emphasis on consultative selling approach.

* Prefer basic knowledge of turbomachinery and general-purpose controls.

* Prefer understanding of various standards (ATSM, EN, API, CSA, ANSI, etc.)

* General knowledge of chemical compatibility is a plus.

* LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Demonstrate ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to management.

* MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

* COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, MRP platforms and Statistical software.

* REASONING ABILITY: Proven problem solving ability. Ability to define problems, analyzes data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram format and be able to make sound decisions based on several abstract and concrete variables.
