Research Technician II

The Research Technician II will assist with in vitro experiments in a new research lab focused on hemostasis and thrombosis with a focus on von Willebrand factor biology. The ideal candidate will grow with the lab and work collegially with established labs. The successful candidate will be able to plan, execute, and report complex experiments.

* Designs and conducts laboratory research experiments.

* Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.

* Documents and interprets results of experiments and reports to principal investigator.

* Assists with publication of research findings.

* Orders lab supplies and equipment as needed.

* Maintains lab equipment and environment.

Required: Bachelor's degree in a basic science

No experience required.

Preferred: Two or more years of work related experience

* Critical thinking: Experimental design and statistical testing

* Molecular biology: DNA isolation, cloning DNA libraries, PCR, protein expression/purification/analyses

* Bacterial culture: Generate/transform competent cells and produce bacteriophage

* Tissue culture: Develop and maintain mammalian cell lines (transfection and passaging)

* Flow cytometry: Cell sorting

* Computer: Develop/modify/execute programs for next generation DNA sequencing analyses

* Communication: Present and discuss scientific findings at meetings
