Under general supervision, performs as technical advisor to the operator who can be used in complicated and difficult drilling situations on location or onshore to provide recommendations to optimize the drilling operation based upon the analysis and interpretation of all relevant information sources or work on specific projects as required. Provides technical services to Surface Data Logging (SDL), Measurement While Drilling (MWD), Directional Drilling (DD) and Operator personnel to ensure that the objectives of Optimization are carried out in a professional manner. Ensures optimization data is properly and accurately collected and documented, including possible problems, and communicated as necessary internally and to the customer. Provides analysis for the Optimization disciplines of Geosteering, Drillstring Integrity, Hydraulics Management and Wellbore Integrity or additional disciplines not yet defined. Uses and interprets data to assist in the planning and solution of complicated engineering problems, and to make professional, and safe drilling recommendations to the customer during the course of the well. Performs any other specialized tests or gathers any additional data as required by the customer. Presents complete, detailed, accurate and professional reports to the customer as required. Is capable of delivering presentations internally and to the customer on project results and on the Optimization services disciplines utilized. Assembles Optimization data into Optimization logs following established and/or customer guidelines. Maintains an updated standard well summary file during the well to assist in writing the end-of-well report. Is responsible for completion of the end-of-well report which will be completed and ready for customer delivery within two weeks of the end of the drilling operation. Provides recommendations pertinent to the safe and cost-effective drilling of future wells included on the end-of-well report. Documents and properly briefs relief personnel of all activities related to the execution of the job while relief was absent. Performs in such a way as to obtain repeat business. Performs required maintenance and repair of company vehicle assigned. Skills typically acquired through completion of an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Geoscience or other technical discipline and a minimum of 2-3 years experience as a Field Prof-Optimization, I., to include a minimum of 5 years industry experience to include a minimum of 3 years well-site experience. Average experience ranges from 7 to 12 years of industry experience. Must have successfully passed company tests or met task guideline requirements. Must have met the minimum competency requirements for the Field Professional–Optimization, I. Must possess a thorough knowledge of onshore and offshore drilling practices. Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude to standards required. Must possess good communication, supervisory, interpersonal leadership, good verbal communication, presentation, technical writing, arithmetic, data entry, and recording skills. Proven competency in relevant computer software. Proven competency and experience of modeling and well site monitoring in a minimum of two of the following primary specializations or primary specializations not yet defined. A primary specialization may be substituted for one additional competency within an already developed primary specialization. Specialization areas are as follows: 1- Geosteering and interpreting sensor measurements to include additional competencies in petrophysical analysis, Drillstring and Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) design; 2-Drillstring vibration analysis, BHA vibration modeling and interpreting sensor measurements, to include additional competencies in Drillstring and BHA design; 3- Hydraulics management to include hydraulics modeling and interpreting sensor measurements; 4- Formation pore and fracture pressure prediction using surface, LWD and wireline measurements to include additional competencies in Geomechanics. Must possess relevant offshore certificates as required. This is a field position. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness, and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines. Promotes and takes an active part in quality improvement processes.
