Area Supervisor

Under the direction of the Assistant Store Manager, the Area Supervisor is responsible for the daily merchandising of designated areas of the store. The Area Supervisor controls ordering, receiving, stocking, signing, ad setup, and maintenance standards in their area. The Area Supervisor also participates in the coverage and responsibilities of the Front End/Service Desk. The role of the Area Supervisor is designed to develop future OSJL managers. Associates in this position should be open to development to management level positions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Protection of company assets

* Ensuring all OSJL customers receive the best possible service on the sales floor and at the point of sale

* Compliance with all Company policies and procedures

* Merchandise presentation in assigned areas, including proper maintenance of all autoreplenished areas

* Support training of staff assigned to the department(s)

* Inventory control through proper ordering management of backroom stock and timely flow of merchandise to the sales floor

* Timely compliance to merchandising direction from the office

* Maintenance of proper merchandise signing and ticketing

* Ordering and presentation of advertised merchandise according to plan

* Upholding the safety and maintenance standards for physical plant

* Support Front End operations as needed

* Participation in the operation and merchandising of the entire store when functioning as a key carrier

* Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified applicant must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation. Qualified applicant must be able to set and operate a ticket gun, cut case merchandise, count money, lift merchandise weighing up to 35 pounds, sign merchandise, display product on shelves and on the sales floor up to 6 feet, and climb up and down ladders. Qualified applicant also must offer flexibility in scheduling to meet business needs. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability necessary to perform these duties.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum 1 year of retail store, Department Manager level experience is preferred.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Strong communications and interpersonal skills

* Strong merchandising skills

* Ability to supervise others while remaining individually productive

* Ability to plan and organize multiple projects and execute with appropriate urgency.

* Must be able to speak and comprehend English. Secondary language a plus

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

* Valid Drivers License

* Personal motor vehicle must be registered with the applicable State and must have motor vehicle insurance in force ( if required by state law).
