As a physician provides medical services to patients in an assigned area.

1. Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Communicates significant changes in patient condition to Primary Care Provider and/or Specialist. Coordinates discharge planning with case manager for admitted patients.

2. Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff, and hospital.

3. Recommends, participates in, and actively works to ensure the success of efforts to improve the cost effectiveness of care provided to patients.

4. Organizes and constructs a coverage schedule in collaboration with other hospitalists to ensure continuous coverage. Provides coverage in the event of colleague's absence or exceptionally high patient volume.

\n\nEducation: Doctoral degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited School of Medicine or College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Licensure, Certification and Registration: State licensure as a Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Board eligible or certified in medical specialty.

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Required Work Experience: 5 years related experience.
