Position Summary: As a Dietary Aide you will be responsible for following resident menus accurately on the tray line and the proper cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen and soiled dishes. As a Dishwasher you will be responsible the proper cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen and soiled dishes. As a Prep Cook you will assist cook in the preparation of meals and clean-up of work area.

Dietary Aide Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare beverages and portion desserts and assist with other food preparation.
  • Set up dining room tables.
  • Set dining rooms assuring resident tray tickets are followed.
  • Follow resident menus accurately while preparing trays on tray line.
  • Deliver nourishments to units as required.
  • Deliver food carts to designated places and ensure carts are returned to kitchen.
  • Clean dining room and kitchen.
  • Collect and remove trash and garbage to designated containers.
  • Clean work areas, dining room, equipment, walls, cabinets, storage areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with established procedures.
  • Wash dishes, cookware, flatware, and trays using approved procedures.

Dishwasher Essential Responsibilities:

  • Wash dishes, cookware, flatware, and trays using approved procedures.
  • Clean work areas, dining room, equipment, walls, cabinets, storage areas, and other areas assigned in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collect and remove trash and garbage to designated containers.
  • Assist with stocking responsibilities as assigned including restocking refrigerator, pantry and coffee supplies as necessary.
  • Assist Dietary Aides as needed and serve as backup Dietary Aide when needed.
  • Deliver food carts to designated places and ensure carts are returned to kitchen.

Prep Cook & Stock Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist cook with distributing food.
  • Prep food for the cook.
  • Assist cook with the washing of pans.
  • Stock nursing unit pantries and check dates and labels on food items.
  • Set up food in steam table and take down steam table.
  • Serve food and beverages to residents.
  • Assist with stocking responsibilities as assigned.
  • Distribute stock to proper placement in dry storage, cooler and freezer.
  • Rotate and tag stock according to state and facility guidelines

  • Ability to read and follow written/verbal instructions.
  • Ability to interact with residents, visitors, and employees.
  • Ability to operate standardized cooking equipment and dishwashers.
  • Communicates effectively and tactfully, while recognizing age, cultural orientation, needs, abilities and physical condition.
  • Ability to display a sense of caring, concern, compassion and dignity for residents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
  • Well organized and attentive to detail.
  • Ability to manage time productively.

Education, Training, Experience:

  • High school diploma or successful completion of a GED.
  • Experience in the food service industry beneficial.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of proper techniques for food preparation, including modified diets.
  • Exposure to working with the senior adult population desired.
  • Attends all required in-service training and departmental meetings

Nonessential Responsibilities:

  • Arrive to work on time and in proper uniform. Follow proper grooming and hygiene principles with hair restraints.
  • Work collaboratively with employees to create a climate that promotes teamwork.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous approach with the residents.
  • Understand and support Resthaven policies and procedures.
  • Restock refrigerator and coffee supplies as necessary.
  • Flexible schedule with ability to work weekends and holidays.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
