Middle School (MS) Coed V & JV Assistant Track & Field Coach - Combined Position
Job Summary
The positions are responsible for coaching student-athlete/team strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition and to help them develop an appreciation of sports participation.
Responsibilities include:
- Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the sport's rules, regulations, equipment, techniques, and tactics.
- Observe players during practice and competition to determine individual or team improvement needs.
- Determine game strategy based on the individual and team’s capabilities.
- Establish and maintain high standards of behavior and supervise athletes at all times.
- Follow established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Observe school, league, state, regional, and national athletic program regulations.
- Model positive behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, parents, officials, and spectators – practice good sportsmanship.
- Employ nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
- Assign duties to assistant coach(es) as necessary.

Job Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required)
Some experience as a soccer, tennis, or track and field coach or assistant coach at the middle school or club level is preferred. Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills. Must have working knowledge of the sport's rules, regulations, techniques, and strategies. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and student-athletes.

Job-Related Practice/Game Schedules
Varsity (7th-8th Grade)
Mondays and Wednesdays: 2:00 p.m. – 315 p.m. Thursdays: 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Junior Varsity (5th-6th-Grade)
Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays: 3:30 p.m. – 5:00/5:00
Job Timeline/Season Length
8-10 Weeks
Winter II (Late) Athletic Season Dates: January 8 - March 15, 2024
Spring Athletic Season Dates: March 18 - May 10, 2024 (Varsity Teams Train Until June 5, 2024)
Job Compensation
Nueva provides a competitive salary/stipend based on the practice and game schedule and the coaching assignment (Head coach vs Assistant coach). The overall stipend range is $1000- $3000. The salary is based upon, but not limited to, coaching/playing experience, licensing, certification, and overall education/knowledge in the sport.
