Accurately prepares IV admixtures and extemporaneous parenteral products under the supervision of the pharmacist. Demonstrates proper aseptic technique consistently (USP 797 compliance) , as per IV Policies and Procedures. All sterile product preparations are checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing.Proficient in Simplifi and Critical Point and utilizes effectively. Complies with IV room cleaning schedule.Properly labels medications using appropriate cautionary statements, formats and expiration dates. Meets performance expectations for volume, timeliness and quality.â¢ Compounds medications under the supervision of the pharmacistâ¢ Pre-packages medications for unit-dose distribution. Ensures dept is adequately stocked with ready-to-dispense products by prepacking products ahead of time and compounding frequently used products before needed.â¢ Assures that computer, Fast Pack and other equipment are in proper functioning order (replace printer ribbon, paper, labels, fills paper, able to do minor troubleshooting of equipment, knows who to call when unable to assess/fix problem). Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of repacking equipment. Keeps work station neat and clean..Charges and credits patient medication when necessary. Picks up returns routinely while on rounds and credits in a timely fashion.Completes all assigned monthly unit inspections and out-of-date checking. Maintains Quality Assurance logs, records and other documentation accurately (including refrigerator temperatures, eye wash stations). Files in appropriate locations.â¢ Answers telephone with appropriate follow up â receiving and relaying messagesâ¢ Orders and restocks medication and supplies. Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications in appropriate locations.â¢ Performs duties within specified timeframe (outdates, unit inspections, recalls, etc).â¢ Understands the importance of patient confidentiality, satisfaction and ensures patient's needs are met as completely as possible. Assists willingly with other tasks within the Pharmacy as needed.â¢ Is cooperative and follows directives promptly. Assists in maintaining adequate par levels and takes appropriate steps to secure medication if unavailable in the Pharmacy. Procures medications in emergency situations in the absence of buyer. Rotates stock of medications and IVs. Notifies buyer, Manager or Director when there is a problem and presents with possible solutions. Attends to customer service needs; answers requests at the window in a timely and efficient manner.â¢ Alerts Pharmacists when unused doses of medications are found.
