Pastry cooks are responsible for maintaining the daily production of pastry items and desserts, along with the process of proper presentation. Pastry cooks will be responsible for all aspects of preparing, baking and finishing desserts, cakes, cookies, and brownies, to include portion control, product rotation, proper sanitation and following recipes. This position follows HACCP policies and procedures to ensure the safe production of all food items.

This is a part-time position located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The company will not provide relocation assistance or other employment benefits for this position. This position has a limited number of weekday daytime shifts during non-peak seasons. This position requires evening, weekend and holiday availability and has a starting hourly rate of $12.00 or more based on relevant experience.

Summary of Major Duties/ Responsibilities:

* Must demonstrate our Customer Service Pledge

* Must initiate contact with our guests by being courteous and greeting them with a smile

* Must be willing to listen to our guests and provide for their needs

* Must provide a genuine Thank You to every guest

* Must be able to read recipes and create desserts according to specifications listed on labels and instructions to properly measure and assemble ingredients

* Must be able to prepare food (cut, mix, slice, chop, and weigh food)

* This role will require the use of hot ovens and may use boiling hot water

* Maintain the daily production of pastry items and desserts

* Display pastry items and desserts according to standards

* Meet all food safety and sanitation standards

* Take customer orders over the phone, email or in person as required, ensuring accuracy

* Safely operate a variety of kitchen equipment such as stand mixers, ovens, etc.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

* Must be 18 years of age or older

* Must maintain a neat appearance and adhere to the uniform standards

* Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry 25-50 pounds, overhead lifting may be required

* Must be able to walk or stand for 5-8 hours

* This role will require bending, stooping, twisting and repetitive motion of the hands, wrists, and forearms

* Must be able to work at a fast pace and remain focused, accurate and efficient

* Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, fellow coworkers, and function effectively as part of a team

* Must have basic math skills (add/subtract)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education: Graduate of a technical school food service program preferred

Experience: One year experience in a bake shop preferred
