Position Title: Desktop Support Technician 1 Business Unit: Technology Reports to: Supervisor of Desktop Support Position Overview: This position is primarily responsible for assisting end users in resolving hardware and software issues by fielding telephone calls and email communication or assigned cases. The incumbent diagnoses problems and performs troubleshooting activities and documents, tracks and monitors the problem to facilitate a timely resolution. This position requires basic analysis and math skills and has low to moderate impact to the corporation. Primary Responsibilities: Assists end users in resolving hardware and software issues by fielding telephone calls and email communication or assigned cases. Diagnoses problems and performs troubleshooting activities. Documents, tracks and monitors the problem to facilitate a timely resolution. Works with teams and business users on most aspects of a project. Provides input to project plans and receives direction from management. Relies on established guidelines and instructions to perform daily job functions. These functions may need the use of basic analysis and math skills. May interact with external vendors in relation to a specific incident or service request. Uses knowledge of general use of PCs and information technology and/or Datacom network experience to resolve issues, uses good knowledge of PC technology (Explorer, Control Panel, hardware) and Basic knowledge of core Microsoft Office Applications to resolve and/or prevent technology/business user issues. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned.
