Job Description Summary

This position reports to the Plant Engineer along with the Maintenance Supervisors. Directs and coordinates storeroom activities and of workers engaged in repair and maintenance.

Job Description

* Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

* Maintain equipment hierarchy to facilitate the gathering of equipment repair history and equipment cost.

* Perform mathematical equations necessary to analyze resource utilization.

* Evaluate work requests to insure applicability and methodology necessary for completion.

* Formulate work plans to insure all material and tools necessary for job completion are procured.

* Balance workloads according to manpower and equipment availability.

* Develop job standards for all reoccurring maintenance tasks.

* Perform trend analysis on completed work orders to insure optimum utilization of resources.

* Contributes to the development of training materials and operation procedures.

* Evaluate lock out/tag out procedures to insure compliance with applicable regulations and update as needed.

* Develop long range plans to support schedule plant shutdowns.

* Evaluate equipment reliability and develop position papers to support capital projects.

* Assist in the preparation of testing/classification of materials and make recommendations on subject-based analysis of down time trends.

* Develop and update worksheets, inspection logs, records etc., as needed.

* Analyze and evaluate maintenance downtime trends.

* Create a detailed description of work to be performed on a job. A job plan typically includes procedural descriptions and lists of estimated materials, items, labor and tools to be used on a job.

* Collect data from daily downtime reports. Generate weekly, monthly and annual downtime reports and trends from collected data.

* Create work orders for the manufacture of parts.

* Create special reports on demand for management, i.e. equipment, chemicals, cost centers, general ledger accounts, outstanding work orders, purchase order status reports etc.

* Create work orders, preventive and corrective, for downtime, weekends, projects, one-shots and state required maintenance/monitoring.

* Keep and update records of all equipment and operating locations.

* Coordinate with Plant Engineer/Maintenance Supervisors in the installation of new equipment.

* Coordinate with Plant Engineer/Maintenance Supervisors/Maintenance Leads in the creation of work orders.

* Verify lock out/tag out is attached to work orders where appropriate.

* Assist in the storeroom as needed. (See Storeroom Attendant Job Description)

* Coordinate with the Purchasing Department for the issuing of purchase orders to vendors.

Job Qualifications

SAFETY:

Must have a complete knowledge and understanding of the plant safety rules including, but not limited to, the lock out/tag out procedure, chemical hazards and the hearing conservation program. Must have good personal hygiene and be able to practice safe work habits.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

The incumbent must be able to perform their duties with an acceptable degree of efficiency based on thorough knowledge and experience with processing equipment at the Boardman, Lamb-Weston Plant.

Must have a broad knowledge of the following areas:

Basic electricity and electronic controls. General plant maintenance. Refrigeration principles. Packaging maintenance. Plant support equipment maintenance.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to effectively write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Lift truck operator's license is preferred but not necessary.

WEEKEND WORK:

Must be available to work down weekends and during extended plant downtimes.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Must understand the general plant processes and interactions with the various departments. Must demonstrate advanced computer skills. Shows an understanding of basic mechanical skills, i.e. plumbing, measuring, changing bearings, etc.
