JOB SUMMARY (overview of job):

Under the direction of the SPH Foundation Executive VP, supports the mission of St. Peter's Health through organization and management of a comprehensive annual giving program, including the coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in the areas of development services and donor relations, special events, direct mail and annual fund drives.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Successfully plan and execute events and campaigns to maximize annual giving.

* Effectively contribute to the health and collaboration of the foundation team and others.

* Cultivate and nurture relationships with prospective and current donors including donor stewardship.

* Purchasing and merchandising for the gift shop to increase foundation ROI.

* He/she develops a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of donor relations support.

* In addition, he/she will foster the growth of best practices in the supporting areas of gift processing, data management and donor relations as related to annual giving and the Foundation as a whole. The project manager has a keen appreciation for the foundation of donor relations support as the enabling component of successful major and gift planning programs.

* The project manager provides strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for all these areas in the context of growing the donor relations program while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of the Foundation.

* The project manager is responsible for ensuring that the Foundation is a leader among peers as measured externally in terms of total dollars, percentage participation, consistency of giving and average gift size and internally in terms of clean data, ease of access to data and timely donor stewardship.

* Determine donor relations program goals and build strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals.

* Formulate and execute a communications program supporting annual giving.

* With the Foundation team as a whole screens requests for assistance from Care Managers, physicians office, individuals, and government health organizations; verifies validity of requests, and makes appropriate funding decision recommendations.

* Has regular communication with Foundation Board members, donors and volunteers and manages volunteer assignments and subsequent training for tasks.

* Makes corporate donation request calls for special events.

* Leads all aspects of special events from concept to completion and follow-up.

* Purchasing and display layout for the SPH Gift Shop.

* This position reports to the Executive Vice President of the Foundation.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum of three years experience in a fund raising environment is required.

* Must possess advanced knowledge of complex functions of word processing, spelling, grammar, punctuation and business and donor correspondence, including social media, and electronic communication; Microsoft Word, Excel and Raiser's Edge database management experience is required.

* Experience in recruiting and supervising volunteers is strongly preferred.

* Experience organizing community events is strongly preferred.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

* Demonstrated management of basic income/expense/fund accounting.

* Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and efficiently in a courteous and considerate manner to maintain contact with board members, volunteers, physicians, donors and other St. Peter's Health and Foundation staff.

* Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with patients, volunteers, and friends of the Foundation.

* Demonstrated ability to manage complex and multiple tasks within assigned time period.

* A passion for philanthropy and willingness to model philanthropic behavior is required.

* Enthusiasm about SPH and the value to the community is required.

* Impeccable personal honesty, integrity and confidentiality are essential.

EDUCATION:

Four year degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Transfer of skills will be considered in lieu of degree.
