Project Engineering Manager - Substation Engineering

1. Ensures the successful management of engineering work performed by internal and external engineering resources to meet the technical requirements and schedule for the assigned project portfolio

2. Manage and monitors contractor performance and output through performance indicators and challenge reviews, administering the terms of the contract to hold contractors accountable for satisfactory completion to the technical requirements and schedule

3. Facilitate review process for engineering and design packages produced by engineering contractors. Establish procedures for and manage design package review process and flow of data among assigned internal engineers, contract engineers, etc. and information exchange with the engineering contractors. Facilitate and coordinate PPL input to design and periodic reviews with respect to Operability, Maintainability, Constructability, and adherence to capital budgets. Assure that PPL design standards and general or specific industry standards are being followed

4. Reviews solicitations and prepares responses for proposals, bids and contract modifications. Manages prompt resolution of contractor issues and change order submittals

5. Manages design changes for their impact on project cost & schedule, coordinating with project team and PPL leadership as needed to advise on scope changes and impact.

6. Responsible for coordinating information between projects, EU leadership, regional groups, and other internal organizations throughout the life cycle of the project. Enhances team performance by serving as an engineering team leader and presents the results of the work group's efforts. Interfaces between the different engineering disciplines and groups supporting a project to ensure that all technical objectives of the project are met.

7. Supports project manager by assessing technical options to resolve in-flight issues, project coordination, contract administration, material tracking, scheduling and cost monitoring. Uses strong engineering principles to provide technically correct and cost-effective recommendations that solve design concerns.
