Overview

The position of HR Specialist , with SOC LLC, A Day and Zimmermann Company, is located at the Hawthorne Army Depot, near the modest, west central Nevada, "High-desert, mountain-side", community of Hawthorne. Hawthorne Army Depot, known as "The Largest ammunition storage facility in the world," is centrally located near the modest community of Hawthorne, Nevada, at the base of 11,000 ft. Mt. Grant and at the south end of large and historical Walker Lake on Highway 95. We are located within a comfortable 1 to 2 hour drive of numerous communities and cities, located in Northern Nevada and Northern California, including South Lake Tahoe, Reno/Sparks, Carson City, Fernley and Sparks, all of which offer abundant opportunities and access to high quality shopping, recreation, health care, education and entertainment.

HWAD, is also located near the East Gate to Yosemite National Park, Mammoth Lakes, Heavenly and Mt. Rose ski resorts, and a comfortable 4 -5 hour drive North West of Las Vegas , NV. Responsibilities

* Prepares and processes empoyee transactions to include assigned new hire and status changes, position reclassifications, pay changes, LOAs etc. Compiles and prepares reports as needed and assigned. Drafts employment-related correspondence or reports; produce SEP extracts and ad hoc reports; identify, investigate and reconcile data discrepancies; liaise with Government Services Human Resources, HR Operations, Business Services Organization (BSO) and Third Party Organizations (TPO) to gather and/or troubleshoot information.

* Performs duties as an HR staff contact for general employee HR inqueries as well as appropriate external inqueries as needed. Assists and provides guidance to supervisors and managers in the preparation of various employee doucments; change forms and HRIS tools.

* Oversees and administrates core SOC HR programs. To include on-boarding and off-boarding actions and processes to include pre-employment vetting, online on-boarding, E-Verify, site access, Navigator assignment and other on-boarding/off-boarding logistics; facilitate and conduct new hire orientation/exit interviews. Administer tuition reimbursement, and assist with disciplinary action documentation/preparation, Leave of Absence administration, and Annual review administration and training.

* Receives and/or follows-up on requests for training; determines appropriateness, resource method, schedules, and may conduct and document training, as needed. Upholds company values (Safety, Diversity, Integrity and Success). Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned. May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above. Maintains high ethical standards, overall values of the business, and the Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct to include cooperating during Company investigations. Reports potential and known safety and environmental concerns to the appropriate personnel or department.

* Participates in the sourcing/interview/selection process as appropriate, assists in the posting of assigned bid sheets in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreements. Reviews and evaluates personnel folders of current and former employees who apply for, or bid on, open positions. Reviews candidates for promotion/transfer for compliance with Union agreement, company eligibility and applicable policies Schedules assigned new hires for physical examinations.

* May perform duties as local Worker's Compensation Administrative contact including the tracking and coordination of the RAP process as it applies to WC admin. Assist HR Generalists and HR Manager as needed in employee relations, PMR, and other duties.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivelant and Associates degree in a business or related field. Combination of related education and closely related work experience, may be considered

LENGHT OF EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years experience in human resources procedures, administration and transactional processes, required. ( 4 four+ years preferred.)

CERTIFICATIONS: Professional Human Resources Certification helpful. Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications as required by SOC's Master Training plan.

LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license. Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Tobacco, Alcohol, and Firearms.
