Description:

As a Risk Engineering Consultant at The Hartford, yourprimary role will be to protect the future of and ensure profitability for TheHartford, its business partners and agents through timely delivery of industryleading safety and risk management solutions. Risk Engineering Consultants provide underwriters with risk engineeringservices to assist them in the selection and pricing of new businessopportunities to provide guidance on exposures and controls for new or unusualclasses of business.

Responsibilities:

* Preparing for and conducting presentations to servicedaccounts. The nature of thepresentations can be sales (i.e.) RMS system and/or technical trainingrelated. This requirement applies to allcustomer levels.

* Based on knowledge of the insured's business activitiesand needs, this individual will make recommendations that will assist theinsured's management to correct and prevent the potential for future financialloss. Working with regional office Risk Engineering Lead/Primary Mentor andassist in all levels of training for new and experienced hires. This can include conducting report and filereviews, coaching, etc.

* Active participation in special projects that could be technicalin nature (i.e.) Biotech, Technology, Industry Expertise, etc. and work tobecome a Subject Matter Expert in one technical discipline.

* Active participation in the RMS process - meeting withinsured's, making presentations, working with claims and underwriting,etc.

* Working with Risk Engineering Manager on special projectsand developing reports to support RO objectives.

* Day travel and 20-30% of overnight travel are required.Ability to travel over for work via air, rail or automobile.

Qualifications:

* A BA/BS degree is required with coursework focused onOccupational Safety and Health Studies, Fire Sciences, Pure Sciences,Engineering or related subjects is preferred.

* Maintain 1 professional safety certification/designation(i.e.) CSP, CIH, CPCU, CFPS, ARM, etc. (orhave at least 8 years of industry experience in a safety related field andsuccessful meet all competency requirements while working to attain aprofessional designation.

* Must have the knowledge and skill to handle all Survey andService work assignments for all lines of business.

* Must work at an advanced skill level when providingservice. This would include thedemonstration of operational loss analysis reports and accident investigationsused to direct services that would eliminate or control conditions that couldlead to potential losses. Must have theability to complete detailed service plans; provide consultativerecommendations in business letters; provide safety training to address losses(i.e.) Ergonomics, Machine Safeguarding, Industrial Hygiene; and have theability to use the tools and products to provide the services necessary.
