Sr. Data Engineer – HR Analytics

The Hartford's Enterprise Data Office is currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to strengthen our Human Resources Data Simplification project. The Hartford is marching on Digital Transformation, and this project is a pivotal project to work with Cloud technologies. The Hartford moves from PeopleSoft to Workday, and we are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Human Resources Data Simplification scrum team. Once this project is complete, you'd move onto the persistent agile team. You'd be responsible for building data assets to support human capital management, integrated reporting, data analytics, and machine learning. This role serves as the tech lead for the team with the opportunity to lead the work efforts of the other data engineers on the project.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complex data assets in Data Lake that support organizational decision making using design thinking principles
  • Work with AWS cloud technology to deliver a Data Lake solution building data assets from RDBMS and Hadoop sources
  • Utilize tools such as Talend, work with DataOps practices in agile forum
  • Act as a Subject Matter expert on existing data assets through root cause analysis and resolution of any business/technical questions
  • Work with business partners and Performance Analytics teams to help develop requirements for data assets, prototyping, and data delivery
  • Support the development of training materials and perform end-user training to ensure a high degree of customer engagement
  • Lead design, implementation of ETL data pipelines
  • Support documentation, metadata, and data visualization of the assets
  • Participate in the development of the implementation plan as a subject matter expert
  • Work with data wrangling technologies and cloud-based Hadoop platform
  • 5 years of Data warehouse experience is required
  • AWS Developer or AWS Solution Architect certification is required
  • 3 years of experience with Talend or similar ETL tool is required
  • 3 years of experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop platform, Spark, Python, R, NoSQL is a plus
  • Strong SQL skill is required
  • 3-5 years of Oracle PL/SQL experience is a plus
  • Experience with EMR/Spark is a plus
  • Experience with Snowflake is a plus
  • Experience with Peoplesoft / Workday data structures is a plus
  • Familiarity with an emerging data-centric architecture is a plus
  • Familiarity with data virtualization tools like Tableau is a plus
