Responsibilities

The Network Engineer analyzes complex local and wide area networks, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communications media to enable the delivery of both in classroom and virtual learning courses. Resolves difficult Interoperability problems to obtain operations across all platforms including email, file transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing, and chat rooms. Configures systems to user environments. Supports acquisition of software and hardware.

Qualifications

Required Skills

* Implementation of virtual learning network infrastructure sufficient to meet special requirements for each course

* Implementation of classroom network infrastructure sufficient to meet special requirements of each classroom course

* Implementation of network changes to optimize performance while adhering to all relevant security policies

Desired Skills

* Ability to implement and administer Microsoft Active Directory and client-server environments.

* Ability to administer VMware virtual infrastructure including vCenter.

* Ability to deploy virtual infrastructure servers and networks.

* Be knowledgeable about the administration of the following operating systems:

* Windows, client-server operating systems.

* Linux distributions to include RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian etc.

* Be skillful in configuring and implementing the following services and deamons:

* DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, iSCSI, NFS, SSH

* Ability to configure and install Cisco switches, firewalls, and routers.

* Be familiar with the following Cisco operating systems and/or tools.

* Cisco IOS

* Cisco NX-OS

* Cisco ASDM

* Experience in data center power, space and cooling design and provisioning.

* Experience in data center SAN provisioning utilizing iSCSI, NFS, Fibre Channel.

* Experience with various storage manufacturers, Dell, EMC, Tegile.

* Experience in documentation, configuration management and network mapping.

Clearance

Must have the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI Polygraph U.S. government security clearance.
