POSITION SUMMARY:

The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for directing cycle audits and inventory control measures to ensure the integrity of the company’s frozen and ambient stored products. The person holds responsibility for maintaining the Baltimore best practices and overall integrity of financials driven through compliance measures All activity must be completed and organized within our ERP System, Sage X3. This role will be accountable for quarter and year and inventory counts as team lead.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct physical inventory counts and process improvement within Sage X3, with the assistance of Logistics and Laboratory staff to always ensure accuracy in the inventory.
  • Plan best allocation and utilization of inventory and facility space and resources as needed.
  • Monitor excess and obsolete inventory / plan for upcoming expiration.
  • Create BOMS and routings for new finished goods.
  • Identify areas for process improvements within inventory strategies for continuous improvement
  • Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, and be accountable for movement of all materials.
  • Plan for future development in line with strategic business objectives.
  • Submit and manage purchase requisitions for Inventoried Material.
  • Manage and lead change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities
  • Process work orders for all custom, catalog, and media orders.
  • Analyze and define all reorder points for most effective inventory turns, as well as space considerations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, with a background in manufacturing operations, business administration, engineering, logistics, or science.
  • 3+ years of successful work experience within a life science and/or consumables mfg setting
  • Familiarity with biotechnology, laboratory production, and general inventory best practices.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a professional ERP System such as Sage X3, SAP, Oracle, or similar

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • There are no direct reports with this position. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to effectively motivate and work with individuals with whom they have no direct reporting relationship, to complete required tasks.
  • Excellent management and team-building skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels within an organization
  • Considerable knowledge of safety principles and practices
  • Considerable knowledge of PC operations and software (Word, Excel) are required
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May be required to work with hazardous chemicals using appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • May be exposed to cold temperatures (i.e. Dry ice, liquid nitrogen, etc.)
  • Standing or sitting for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift maximum of 40 pounds
  • May be required to use appropriate personal protective equipment
