Assistant Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for supervising the store Processors and assisting in the management of a retail store to achieve or exceed sales goals, providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean, safe and pleasant environment, and implementing the agency's mission, under the direct supervision of the Store Manager.

Essential Functions

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, May include the following as well as their related duties that may be assigned.

* Responsible for scheduling of processor personnel to optimizes business

opportunities; focus on controlling payroll costs and adequate floor coverage of store.

* Assist Store Manager in generating revenue to exceed budget and controlling expense

budget for the store and staying within defined guidelines.

* Responsible for hiring, training motivating and developing employees and will

perform all coaching and developmental activities in an appropriate manner.

* Conducts coaching and training of staff in an appropriate manner at the direction of

Store Manager and District Manager.

* Supervision of all store personnel in accordance with Goodwill operational standards.

* Providing one-on-one monthly meetings with employees.

* Ensure all production and rotation quotas are being met.

* Responsible for opening and closing the store and all requirements of these activities.

* Ensures assets are protected and that steps are taken to maximize value potential of


* Handle all money and financial transactions according to company policy and


* Ensures merchandise in assigned areas is presented according to written guidelines.

* Use of POS to total sales, accepts payment, and authorizes voids, and returns.

* Opening and closing the store and all requirements of these activities.

* Ensuring the proper security of the building, company assets and the safety of

customers and employees.

* Responsible for delivering the highest levels of customer service possible in

all areas of the store to ensure customer and donor satisfaction.

* Read and follow all standards set forth in the policies and procedures manual.

* Accurately maintain all company records and reports in a timely manner.

* Maintain housekeeping to all company standards.

* Ensure full compliance of all safety and security policies and procedures.

Maintain professional communication with Store Manager, Regional Manager and

Vice President of Retail.

* Responsible to own personal growth and development, following development plans

as agreed.

up with Store Manager and attending department and company meetings and training

as required.

* Provides coaching and training to employees daily.

* Regular attendance at supervisor, client and retail meetings, as directed, is required.

* Mission integration- Integrates and represents Goodwill's mission and principles to internal and external customers daily.

* Must address customer needs, handle and address customer complaints with focus on

conflict resolution and prevention of problem escalation. In a courteous and

professional manner at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must posses required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed

* Excellent interpersonal skills.

* Demonstrated ability to lead, manage motivate and communicate positively with store associates at all levels.

* Ability to manage in a retail environment.

* Ability to provide excellent customer service.

* Must possess proficient use of basic math skills.

* Ability to exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion.

* Must have highly developed organizational skills and ability to prioritize

* Ability to train, coach and develop Associates.

* Ability to work variety of shifts.

* Familiar with cash registers and demonstrate a working knowledge of POS systems and terminals.

* Must have good verbal and written communication skills.

* Functional knowledge of Word and basic Excel.

* Maintain dependable transportation and communication devices

* All other duties as assigned and must be willing to relocate and/or travel to any to any Goodwill within the region.

Experience and Education

HS Diploma or equivalent. Two years' of experience in supervising 5 or more employees in retail, production or manufacturing, or one year of supervision experience and successful completion of Goodwill professional development
