Overview
Pier 1 Imports is searching for a 2nd Shift Operation Supervisor located in Groveport, OH. Schedule for this role is Monday to Friday 4pm to 12:30am. As a member of the leadership team, this position reports to the Operation Manager of Fulfillment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our team of Pier 1 associates. The successful candidate will demonstrate aptitude for:
Duties & Responsibilities
Thought Leadership
  • Supports the implementation of best practices
  • Passionate about customer service and proactive in improving customer satisfaction
  • Drives ongoing change within the designated business unit
  • Analyzes information and uses appropriate judgment to execute agreed upon strategies
  • Builds collaborative relationships with all levels of management team within Pier 1

Results Leadership
  • Leads a team of Associates in achieving goals and objectives
  • Manages the financial performance of the assigned department(s) to include monitoring appropriate staffing levels, reducing damages and controlling supply costs
  • Lead and supports an effective Safety program
  • Maintains company equipment
  • Generates and provides data driven production updates
  • Identifies new and improved ways to deliver operational excellence

People Leadership
  • Effectively selects, trains, motivates, and develops associates to maximize performance
  • Provides verbal and written recognition and feedback to associates
  • Continually mentors and motivates teams
  • Engages teams to ensure a high level of associate involvement

Personal Leadership
  • Ensures all policies and procedures are adhered to and effectively managed
  • Maintains an open-door policy in an effort to remain accessible to all associates and resolve issues in a professional and impartial manner
  • Demonstrates a passion for the business that inspires others
  • Models the Pier 1 Compass while interacts with associates openly, honestly, and consistently ensuring all associates are treated with dignity and respect
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards and values

Education & Experience
  • Ecommerce/Fulfillment Center background preferred
  • Conveyor experience a plus
  • Small parcel experience a plus
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Must possess excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to train core team members and continually develop talent
  • Ability to stock and retrieve merchandise of varying sizes from various heights, ranging from the floor level up to the ceiling of the fulfillment center
  • Ability to safely operate fulfillment center warehouse equipment
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to, on occasion, work more than 40 hours per week based on business need, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel as required (meetings or for other special projects)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and stand for prolonged periods of time

Education/Experience • Bachelor's Degree in related disciplines such as Logistics/Supply Chain, Business, Retail Management is preferred • 3 plus years' experience in a leadership/supervisor role
