Job Responsibilities:The Residential Assistant is responsible for assisting the Coordinator of Residential Services in the overall management and operation of community residential facilities for adults and/or adolescents with intellectual disabilities. This position assists in identifying and initiating actions to meet the needs and insure the health and safety of people served, while also providing direct care support.Job Qualifications:The position requires a person twenty-one (21) years of age or older with a high school diploma and a minimum of one (1) year's experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. College courses in the behavioral sciences may be substituted as per VOASE policy and procedure. The position requires successful completion of all mandatory training to include First Aid/CPR Certification, CPI Certification, and Medication Assistant Certification.

Counseling skills and a demonstrated knowledge base and proficiency as related to support needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, rights and responsibilities, and household management are preferred.
