Packaging Team Leader (Second Shift)

Position Overview

With minimal supervision oversee the packaging and labeling of commercial product and large-scale clinical trial material.

This is a second shift position--3:30 pm to midnight.

Specific Responsibilities

* Assist in the planning and scheduling of commercial batches to meet company needs.

* Supervise/assist in the successful packaging of commercial and large-scale clinical batches.

* Maintain the inventory system for packaging components

* Assist in decisions on equipment selection, purchases, and processes.

* Supervise employees in the set-up and change-over of packaging equipment

* Ensure the packaging area and equipment are maintained in accordance with company and regulatory requirements

* Recognize potential problems and provide input on correct action by communication to the appropriate departments

* Assist in/direct the training of the operative staff in the cleaning, set-up and operation of equipment and packaging processes

* Identify and resolve process or equipment failures and causes; initiate appropriate action to prevent reoccurrence.

* Keep management informed on progress of packaging operations

* Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, laws, and codes, including FDA and DEA regulations

* Effectively interact with clients regarding all aspects of commercial batch packaging

* Assist in identifying and hiring competent staff

* Help in developing systems to comply with cGMPs, DEA, and other applicable regulations


* Four year degree with two years experience including leadership experience in an FDA regulated industry, or

* Two year degree with five years relevant experience including experience in a leadership position, resulting in sound functional understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, or

* Six to eight years experience in pharmaceutical production/packaging area, including leadership experience resulting in sound functional understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes

* Position requires the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs unassisted

* Majority of work day is performed while standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing

* Requires the ability community effectively using speech, vision and hearing

* Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations

* Requires bending, squatting, reaching, pushing, climbing

* Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time

* Some exposure to hazardous chemical and other active chemical ingredients

* Must be able to work in a team environment

* Must be able to use a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery
