Facilities Services is unit in the Campus Operations Division, which is a part of a broad, diverse division of Administration and Finance that includes all aspects of facilities management at East Carolina University. East Carolina University is the third largest university in the University of North Carolina system with approximately 28,000 full-time students and a staff of approximately 6,000. The university is comprised of 6.2 million square feet of facilities located on 1319 acres with $1.49 billion in physical assets. * This includes the Main, Health Sciences, West Research Campuses, and satellite locations associated with university programs. Facilities Services has an annual budget in excess of $30 million and employs over 400 full-time employees. Major functions include facilities maintenance and housekeeping services. Facilities Services primary purpose is to plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance functions on all building structures and equipment and utility infrastructure. Corrective maintenance returns equipment to optimal design performance after failure or upon degradation from age, adverse operation conditions, etc. Preventive maintenance minimizes equipment failures and reduces corrective maintenance.

Job Duties

This position is responsible for the installation and repair of all commercial door, cabinet and some vehicle related locking devices. This position will work with a computer based software in the design & layout of complex master key systems. This position will export codes to automated key cutters and CNC machines for the purpose of cutting and engraving keys. This position enters personal and department information into the facilities service data base. Duties include but not limited to, master keying all cylinder types including desk and padlocks, duplicating & cutting keys, repairing and installing door, cabinet and file cabinet locks.

This position will repair and calibrate machines and equipment as necessary. In addition, maintain inventory for shop/truck and tools associated with the job. This position will perform repairs of some electronic hardwired and wireless locking devices. This includes card and code access systems. The position will maintain or replace panic hardware when necessary and have a working knowledge of functions, trim, finishes and handing of commercial doors.

Minimum Education/Experience

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Candidates must possess a valid NC driver's license and be eligible to operate a state-owned vehicle in accordance with the ECU property policy.

This is a locksmith position and requires a NC Locksmith License.
