Controls Systems Engineer

General Summary:

The Control Systems Engineer supports the design, development, integration, and certification of electronic control systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Designs and develops Control Systems including: architecture development, system requirements development, system integration, system safety, system qualification, system integration testing (hardware-in–the-loop) and system issue resolution

* Defines and improves Systems Engineering Processes (SEP) associated with control systems development

* Defines Control Systems integration and verification testing requirements and supports laboratory and flight testing as required

* Reviews systems requirements, ICDs, electrical drawings, test plans, system safety documentation, and system performance analysis

* Resolves problems from the development and certification activities

* Writes system development and certifications documents (plans, reports) as required

* Serves as technical focal point for the communication with the systems suppliers

Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:

* Bachelors' degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or other related field required

* Minimum of 8 years to a maximum of 20 years direct experience as a systems engineer in actual aircraft development programs (Part 23 or 25), preferably in the area of flight critical systems, including requirements development, design, integration, testing and system troubleshooting experience

* Previous experience with Systems Engineering process tools for Requirement Management, Defect Tracking, Configuration Control and Version Control required

* Designated Engineering Representative (DER) experience is preferred

* Previous experience with DOORS and PLM tool (TeamCenter, etc.) preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, etc.)

* Working knowledge of equipment qualification standards including RTCA/DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, RTCA MOPS & MASPS & TSO/E-TSO

* Working knowledge of FAA & EASA certification requirements, including airworthiness and operational requirements

* Working knowledge of System Safety Assessment (SSA) process and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

* Familiarity of Mathworks MATLAB/Simulink

* Fluency in system requirements, development, and management

* Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels within the organization

* Ability and willingness to work any shift and overtime as required

* Ability to work independently or within a team oriented environment
