Client Services Technician Employment First / TANF Unit - Clerical Support

Provide employment information and resources to visitors of Employment Services. Identify customer needs and refer to appropriate program, resource or partner agency. Assist customers in accessing information and services through TANF/EF Programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Enter and maintain customer and program information into appropriate County or State data management system. Complete all required data entry accurately, timely and appropriately based upon specific program requirements. Compile records and prepare various reports, forms or other appropriate documents in accordance with requirements for assigned Unit.

Accurately establish and maintain client files in accordance with Department policy and appropriate regulations, including all required documentation, employment plans, attendance and progress records and supportive service documentation. Track and monitor participant activities by reviewing and entering accurate and timely information into the appropriate data management system. Distribute files to designated case managers.

Assist case managers with necessary paperwork for customers. Order paperwork for TANF/EF programs. Reschedule clients for TANF Orientation. Complete Orientation spreadsheet.

Coordinate and facilitate program related workshops with program participants to meet local, state and federal regulations. Communicate and present information effectively in large groups as well as individually to meet the needs of participants.

Develop, coordinate and monitor worksites to host participants assigned to a work based learning activity.



Required Education:

* High School Diploma or equivalency.

* Successful completion of an Associate's Degree is preferred.

* Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Work Experience:

* Two years full time business or clerical experience in an office environment which includes a high level of customer service and proven experience working with the public.

* Experience communicating both verbally and in writing with a diverse group of clients and customers.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

* Must possess ability to keyboard at 35 words per minute.

* Must possess the ability to obtain information from various business or community agencies.

* Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and adequate Liability Insurance. Must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County.

* Must pass Human Services Background Checks.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

* Experience working with Connecting Colorado State Employment site.

* Experience assisting clients in job searches or other career development opportunities.

Other Necessary Requirements


Ability to enter data into several different computer programs. Ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis. Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures. Ability to write correspondence.

Ability to adapt to fast paced, high volume and ever changing work environment and be able to handle high stress situations.

Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.

Ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.

Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to stand and walk. Occasionally the employee may be required to lift and/or move heavy files or objects up to 25 pounds. The employee frequently is required to use their hands and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus such as that used when using a computer or reading.
