Your Opportunity:

Reporting to Manager, Adult Addiction and Mental Health, Grande Prairie and under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, this position works independently as a member of a multiple disciplinary team providing evidence informed and best practices in assessment, treatment, addiction and mental health interventions, support and follow-up to clients. This is an advanced mental health role required to perform the restricted activity of Psychosocial Interventions to address the full range of addiction and mental health issues.In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.


As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master's degree in Psychology; master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master's degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Training in crisis intervention, assessment and case management skills.Current CPR certificate at the BLS Level C.

Preferred Qualifications:

Courses/training/certification relevant to the hiring area (e.g. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Systems for an A&MH program, etc.)
