Summary Objective

Works with and through management, to ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability/productivity requirements.

Essential Functions

1. Assists, plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).

2. Advises safety director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.

3. Plans and implements training for employees in work site safety practices.

4. Maintains safety files and records

5. Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.

6. Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management.

7. Assist, set up and conduct training.

8. Assists in the development, evaluation and upgrading of safety programs.

9. Assist and maintain environmental reports including Storm water permits, SPCC etc

7. Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes through the day.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities at this time.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires 98% standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling. This position requires Personal Protective Equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time salary position, and hours of work and days are decided by production and your reporting General Manager.


Travel would be very minimal and may include traveling to nearby facilities to assist and cross train.

Required Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma

2. Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

4. Knowledgeable on topics such as OSHA, DOT, etc.

5. Excellent Computer, communication and training skills

Preferred Education and Experience

1. 3 to 5 year professional EHS/Safety experience in a manufacturing setting.

2. Prefer experience in OSHA, MSHA, DOT and EPA regulatory requirements.
