Job Summary

The HR Generalist provides human resources support to assigned functional areas. This includes but is not limited to providing support in employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, job evaluations, responding to HR related inquiries and special projects. The HR Generalist assists in the implementation of Human Resources policies and procedures and their dissemination through communications and meetings.

Essential Job Duties

* Completes HR transaction forms for employee movement (new hire, termination, position change, promotion, pay change, etc.).

* Coordinates exit interviews feedback sessions and other final day procedures. Sends completed exit interviews to HR Manager/Business Partner.

* Responds to unemployment notices/claims and provides necessary documentation.

* Responds to miscellaneous emails from employees requesting basic HR information. This may involve researching programs, policies, procedures, employee benefits offerings or employee services.

* Leads the coordination of various social events, benefit events, community events, and other related facility events.

* Processes executed severance agreements, coordinates severance payments and outplacement services.

* Administers the full-cycle leave of absence process. This includes but is not limited to, responding to vendor inquiries, reporting leave absences and return to work dates for HRIS data entry, sending benefit payment letters and collecting monies owed, sending termination letters and completing termination paperwork as applicable.

* Coordinates and documents monthly random drug and alcohol screenings.

* Ensures completion and proper retention of I-9 documents.

* Completes monthly I-9 audits and ensures documents are completed accurately and within the required deadline. Reports compliance issues to HR Manager/Business Partner.

* Completes requisition job posting requests and routes for approvals. May help with recruitment efforts for open positions.

* Coordinates and conducts new hire orientation. Follows up with new hires that have not made benefit elections prior to new employee benefit deadlines.

* Communicates and facilitates benefit information sessions. Provides support for the benefits open enrollment process.

* Regularly files HR paperwork in respective personnel files and keeps personnel files up to date.

* Administers the Recognition program and coordinates communication to the manager and the recognized monthly winner.

* Posts HR related flyers and other information around office location(s).

* Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed. Implements and communicates policies and procedures through various methods.

* Maintains awareness and knowledge of HR laws and company policies and procedures. Remains current on federal, state, case law changes that affect HR.

* May prepare communications related to various HR related subjects.

* May help in coordinating immigration paperwork and other required immigration matters.

* Provides back up to office services for desk coverage, mail, stocking snacks, etc.

* May perform other duties as required.

Scope of Responsibility

Somewhat independent; work frequently done independently by following practices and procedures while occasionally having work checked. This role is privy to highly confidential organizational information, finances, and personnel issues.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

* Fluency in English and Spanish required.

* Intermediate decision making and problem solving skills.

* Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment.

* Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and curious.

* Ability to maintain confidential information with the highest degree of integrity.

* Must have a solid and broad understanding of Human Resource principles, practices and employment laws.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.

* Ability to effectively interact and build relationships within all levels of the organization.

* Must be able to work both independently and in group or matrix managed settings.

* Ability to organize, multi-task, and plan work to meet deadlines.

* Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

* Must be detailed oriented.

* Advance knowledge of computer programs including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Excellent onboarding skills and experience.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2 years of Human Resources experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Travel Required

Travel may be required less than 5% of the time.
