Conco Services Corporation is looking for a Safety Manager for our Gonzales Louisiana location!

What the job entails:

The Safety Manager provides professional safety management and training in addition to ensuring compliancy with all customer, state & federal safety regulations and requirements. The Safety Manager is also responsible for the implementation and administration of the corporate safety program at Conco facilities, as well as at the job-site/area, along with trend analysis and all reporting activities. Ensure the behavior of the crew is in accordance with company safety culture. Understands the lagging and leading safety indicators and promotes a philosophy that achieves established goals. Identification of job site/area specific safety requirements, safety equipment, material procurement, training requirements and tracking of training.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

* Interprets safety rules, regulations, and procedures for management and employees;

* From direction of the Safety Director, this position will develop, implement, maintain, and supervise all corporate-wide safety programs;

* Implements and coordinates all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) activities including OSHA logs;

* Oversees the administration of the State Workers' Compensation Laws, accident investigations, accident prevention programs, claims processing, preparation of reports and record keeping and rehabilitation programs;

* Audit safety programs to ensure compliance and identify potentially hazardous conditions both on and off site;

* Travel to field locations and monitor safety of employees and equipment. Make recommendations related to findings;

* Instruct employee safety training programs, including general safety, CPR/1st Aid, hazardous materials, defensive driving and OSHA regulated training;

* Ensures proper follow-through on all reportable accidents to determine safety improvements;

* Counsels employees and management regarding assigned areas of responsibility and makes recommendations for solutions to safety problems;

* Oversee the assessment and selection of PPE and Industrial Hygiene;

* Complete all customer required safety pre-qualification packets on an as-needed basis;

* Effectively communicate and update internal systems and departments with customer safety requirements;

* Co-chair company-wide Safety Committee and ensure accurate documentation;

* Keeps current on OSHA standards, activities and recent decisions that might affect policies and programs, through reading governmental and professional publications and attending seminars;

* Liaisons with other professional and regulatory organizations in the safety and environmental fields;

* Adhere to Employee's Responsibilities section set forth in Conco's Safety Policies & Procedure Manual

* Other duties as assigned


* Able to recognize and respond to safety emergencies, on an on-call, as needed basis, to all on & off site locations

* Strong attention to detail;

* Ability to work with vendors, customers and employees;

* Principles of accident prevention, loss control and risk identification to safety programs;

* This position requires a highly organized individual who is self-motivated with the ability to motivate others;

* Observe, monitor, and analyze existing operating or safety procedures to determine compliance to standards;

* Must be able to manage multiple tasks and/or priorities and easily adapt to changing situations;


* Reasoning The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction and the ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations

* Oral Comprehension & Expression The ability to communicate, listen and understand information and direction through spoken words and sentences;

* Written Comprehension & Expression The ability to read, write and understand information and ideas;

* Speech Clarity The ability to speak clearly so others can understand;

Experience and Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Safety Management or equivalent training;

* A minimum of 3-5 years pervious Safety Administration experience with a strong preference to power generation or petro-chemical industry experience;

* Must be authorized to work within the United States;

* Equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;

* Current safety certification from a recognized certifying body, such as CHST, OHST, ASP, or CSP, or minimum eligibility requirements met.

Physical Requirements:

* Frequent lifting or moving of materials up to 50lbs;

* Ability to work in environmental extremes such as heat, cold, air pollution, dust, rain, etc..

* The ability to crouch, kneel, balance, lift, carry, push, pull, lift, climb, twist, squat, sit and stand;

* Physically submit to periodic drug, background and clearance screenings (employment is contingent upon favorable results);
