The Senior Staff Accountant position is responsible for supporting the company financial close process to ensure the financial statements are presented according to generally accepted accounting principles and that the work is done timely and accurately. This includes preparing supporting documentation for assigned general ledger accounts, making manual journal entries as needed and implementing corrective actions to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the statements. The Senior Staff Accountant is also responsible for completing complex excel spreadsheets and related financial statement analysis, merger & acquisition analysis, assigned projects and other financial tasks assigned by the Controller.


  • Prepare supporting statements for General Ledger Accounts as assigned.
  • Assist with GL account analysis as assigned.
  • Assist in managing the financial close process, insuring an accurate and timely completion of the process. Insure Intercompany balances are reconciled and properly reflect balances according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Conduct monthly financial review and presentation to finance leadership for assigned business unit. Includes, trend analysis, Month-over-Month and Year-over-Year variance analysis to identify possible errors and omissions. Make corrective actions as needed and recommend process improvements going forward.
  • Proactively interact with each business segment to gather information, resolve expense problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
  • Assist with annual audits.
  • Assist in quarterly bank audits as needed.
  • Monitors/reconciles bank accounts to ensure banking transactions are recording in accounting system and accounts reflect accurate balances.
  • Respond to internal and external customers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Support the accounting department on financial projects assigned by finance & business leadership.


  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field
  • CPA certification preferred (but not required)
  • Requires 3-10 years of professional experience, preferably in a local public accounting firm or in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Strong organizational skill and attention to detail
  • Excellent Problem-Solving Ability
  • Excellent understanding of GAAP and Accounting Procedures
  • Advanced Excel and Database management skills
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, customers and vendors.
  • Requires the ability to use a personal computer and word processing, spreadsheet, JD Edwards accounting software and database reporting software.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or small packages.
