This position is located within the G4 at MATES (RESET), Gatesville,TX. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function. Plans work operations of great scope, complexity, and administrative authority. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits. The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Surface Maintenance Mechanic, WG-5801-11.

Appointment Factor(s): This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Army National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Applicants who are not already on-board employees with the Texas Army National Guard do not meet eligibility for this position.

Areas of Consideration: In-Service. This includes:

* All currently employed full-time permanent, indefinite and temporary personnel of the Texas Army National Guard.

Incentives: Acceptance of a military Federal technician position may result in termination and / or repayment of military incentives. Please check your contract and contact your servicing Education Services (Incentives) office or the Recruiting/Retention office.

Remarks:

* Temporary Promotion for a current on board technician for one year at a time, not to exceed two years.

* Compressed Work Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 0630-1700 hours.

Responsibilities

Surface Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor

* Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.

* Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.

* Plans and establishes overall leave schedules. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment.

* Performs non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc.

* Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.

* Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilizations and command support exercises.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

Compatible Military Assignment (per UMR): Applicant must be Duty MOS assigned to a compatible position in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations upon selection. If selected and not currently Duty MOS assigned, entrance on duty date will be delayed until assignment in the appropriate Duty MOS is verified.

Qualifications

To qualify at the WS-11 grade level your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting the following:

Specialized Experience Required

In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel, you must also have at least 36 months experience or training in the following:

Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishment of priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
