Basic Job Functions:

The responsibilities of the Environmental Operator include but are not limited to meeting and exceeding all safety and housekeeping expectations while safely performing all tasks associated with environmental operations and the environmental management system. Responsibilities also include: operation and maintenance of air pollution and storm-water treatment control systems; maintenance and operation of fans, blowers, water pumps, screw conveyors, gearboxes and pneumatically controlled valves; familiarity with the preparation and loading of K061; ability to complete training to conduct daily readings for visual emissions; ability to operate equipment within state and federally mandated parameters; maintaining water system and all related equipment; water treatment and chemical/hazardous waste handling; maintaining/repairing/replacing: pumps, filters, cooling towers, valves, clarifiers, filter press, ultrafiltration, couplings, bearing/seals and other equipment; maintaining/repairing/replacing: fans, screw conveyors, poppet valves, rotary air locks, and other equipment; PLC and MMI computer operations; preventive/predictive maintenance; serving as an alternate emergency coordinator under HAZWOPER; operating and maintaining radiation detection systems; participating and assisting in the Radiation Safety Program. The Environmental Operator will work in a variety of indoor and outdoor working/weather conditions. Minimum Qualifications:

One-year experience in steel operations

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in Environmental Management/Compliance

Previous mechanical/electrical experience

Previous experience in steel making operations
