What You Will Do:
The Medical Technologist, Team Lead position will function under the direction of the Laboratory Director to assist with coordinating the technical day to day operations. This position will help to ensure a consistent leadership presence and establish a sustainable structure for the laboratory department.
The Team Leader will serve as the subject matter expert in all technical areas of the laboratory. The Team Leader will be instrumental in evaluating and implementing new technologies. This will also include validating and helping to create written procedures and ensuring the content is accurate. The Team Leader will provide or organize appropriate training and competency for technical staff members on current and new technologies.
The Team Leader will assist in scheduling duties to ensure adequate staffing levels at all times and alert the Lab Director when issues arise. The Team Leader will assist in ordering laboratory supplies ensuring that inventory is always adequate.
The Team Leader will ensure that all maintenance on equipment including all major instruments and minor equipment (microscopes, pipettes, etc.) is performed at the recommend frequency. Will review maintenance, temperature, and QC logs for completeness at least monthly. Will ensure all bi-annual regulatory requirements for instrumentation, Calibration/Calibration verification checks, Quality Control, etc. are performed and reviewed at established intervals.
The Team Leader will perform other duties as assigned. These may include attending LEAN training and being a resource for department A3 projects, being involved with interdepartmental committees within the hospital and helping to produce quality reports needed by the Laboratory Director.
The Team Leader is expected to provide support and assistance with patient satisfaction and regulatory compliance goals. This position will also provide assistance with CLIA waived testing support at the WMH affiliated clinics.
The Team Leader will assist Laboratory Director to maintain regulatory readiness by ensuring bi-annual comparison studies, linearities, autovalidation, platelet poor plasma studies, etc. are completed in assigned month. The Team Leader will assist in annual review of regulatory requirements and participate in regulatory inspections.
What You Will Bring:
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science
Certification & Licensures
ASCP (or equivalent: NCA, AMT, HHS (HEW), State Licensure only) MT certification or eligible required
Demonstrates knowledge/competence in providing service to patients of all ages including: neonate, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Demonstrates knowledge/competence in the performance of diagnostic testing applying The Joint Commission patient safety practices in all aspects of patient care.
