Olin Chlor Alkali Products & Vinyls, a division of Olin Corporation, has an opening for a Materials Buyer located in Freeport, TX (Houston will be considered for the right candidate). This position will process purchase orders for store stock items, process release purchase orders for non-stocked items, provides indirect performance feedback to warehouse operations support team, as applicable, expedite purchase orders to ensure accurate delivery date.

Required Skills:

* High School diploma required or G.E.D.

* Bachelor's Degree preferred

* Supply Chain/Purchasing/Business or related discipline strongly preferred

* Minimum 2 years Manufacturing/Industrial work setting; chemical industry preferred

* Demonstrated ability to take initiative, drive projects to closure within a fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

* Negotiating with vendor including managing a competitive bid process required

* Ability to interface with internal and external clients/ suppliers

* Awareness to detail, strong decision-making ability and creative problem solving skills

* SAP

* Advanced skills in Microsoft Office

* Ariba

Essential Skills:

* Conduct request for information or request for quote as necessary.

* Analyze and evaluates bids to optimize value.

* Select non-strategic suppliers and issues purchases orders.

* Review Purchase Requisitions for accuracy of information.

* Effectively utilizes SAP to enter and retrieve information in a timely manner.

* Provides indirect performance feedback to warehouse operations support team, as applicable

* Monitor and track performance metrics and supplier complaints.

* Complies with all safety/health rules and practices.

* Provide off-hours and weekend on-call service to site as necessary.

* Uses logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.

* Handle discrepancies pertaining to release purchase orders and warehouse purchase orders.

* Handles Open Text issue pertaining to invoice & quantity discrepancies.

* Participates in special projects and department auditing

Work Conditions:

* 75% of work is done inside at a desk versus in the plant

* 25% of work is complete at plant warehouse

* Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education
