Sr. Product Sustaining Engineer

Primary responsibilities include sustaining design maintenance, development, and improvement of existing products. Design maintenance includes those products that have been released to manufacturing for ongoing production, and production of spares. This shall include responsibility for value engineering, technology insertion, and customization of product for specific customer requirements. Responsible for managing engineering projects to achieve material cost savings, enhanced functionality, and maintenance of product regulatory compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

* Subject-matter expert (SME) specific to technical operation, performance, and specification requirements of assigned product line(s)

* Develop, lead, and manage Value Add Value Engineered (VA/VE) projects aligned with Corporate Annual Operating Plan (AOP) objectives

* Generate and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) as required ensuring standard processes are being followed in detail and changes are highlighted to all concern personnel with proper documentation

* Coordinate, execute, and monitor effective product, and component phase-in / phase-out plans

* Manage maintenance of 3rd party product regulatory compliance and certification requirements to include supporting Quality Assurance with product audits

* Agency and code working group participation to protect Watts interests and drive future development

* Work closely with manufacturing engineering to ensure production methods are aligned with product regulatory compliance and certification requirements

* Process "Special Handling Instruction" (SHI) to included customization of products for specific customer requirements

* Maintain accurate product structure, packaging data, and design drawings utilizing 3D CAD software

* Support sales and customer service organizations with technical information requests

* Investigate and resolve customer complaints using systematic problem solving techniques and implementation of innovative solutions to address root cause

* Support sourcing initiatives related to alternative suppliers, materials cost reductions, and evaluations for buy-sell (B2B)products

* Support supplier quality initiatives related to purchased components, assemblies, and buy-sell (B2B) products

* Promote and maintain a team environment and open communication in order to ensure continuous and efficient productivity

* Perform other duties as may be assigned through discretion of their immediate supervisor

EDUCATION:

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

* MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISON:

* Not applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* 5-7+ years of industry product design proficiency, valve manufacturing experience is a plus

* Strong oral and written communication skills, able to facilitate discussions, and provide key messages

* Proficient in the use of 3D CAD solid modeling software, Auto Desk Inventor preferred

* Working knowledge of the design/manufacturing of engineered products involving castings, springs, machining, stampings, plastic & rubber molding, assembly, testing, and packaging processes

* Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices

* Ability to effectively participate in and facilitate cross-functional/multi-level team meeting

* Strong project management skills, ability to coordinate multiple task and multiple personnel

* Ability to work independently with minimum supervision in an effective manner

* Excellent comprehension of MS Office products

* Travel Required: 10%
