Senior Research Associate, Rare Renal and Bone Disease Research- Framingham, MA

Job Responsibilities/Department Description:

We are seeking an experienced research associate to join a team within the Rare Disease Research department that is identifying and validating new therapeutic approaches to treat rare kidney disorders. The candidate will be responsible for the design, execution, and documentation of in vitro and in vivo experiments intended to understand disease pathogenesis and the impact of therapeutic intervention.

Key Responsibilities:

* Perform in vitro assays to study pathogenesis and mechanisms of rare kidney diseases

* Carry out in vivo assays to support drug development efforts

* Collect and/or analyze samples from preclinical models of disease and patients to support biomarker discovery efforts

* Record, analyze, and report experimental results

Basic Qualifications:

* MS in biology or a related discipline and 2 years of experience or BS in biology or a related discipline and 3+ years of experience

* Experience with basic cellular and molecular biology techniques

Preferred Qualifications:

* Strong experience with mammalian cell culture techniques (cell transfection and/or retroviral transduction, in vitro assay development, signal transduction analysis, in vitro differentiation, etc.)

* Proficiency with protein and gene expression analysis techniques (protein and RNA isolation, western blotting, ELISA, qRT-PCR)

* Experience with in vivo pharmacology techniques (rodent handling, dosing, necropsy, blood and urine collection)

* Excellent data management, writing, and presentation skills

* Ability to work both independently and as part of a large, collaborative team
