Bioassay Development and Cell Line Engineering – Scientist

Job Summary

The Sanofi Cell Line Development Skill Center seeks a self-motivated scientist to join a high-performing and collaborative team involved in all aspects of cell line engineering and bioassay development. As an integral part of a multifunctional international team, the candidate will lead the design and development of cell lines for bioassays used in the analysis of therapeutics for various modalities (mAbs, gene therapy products, enzymes, peptides, etc.) This person will directly support pre-clinical and clinical development for projects in Sanofi's R&D pipeline that cover multiple therapeutic areas.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Lead and contribute to bioassay development efforts by engineering cell lines used in bioassays that are performed to assess therapeutic mechanism of action and promote structure-function understanding (e.g. luciferase reporter assays, viability assays, etc.)

* Maintain current knowledge about relevant disease biology and technology.

* Design and actively participate in the execution of cell line engineering projects (e.g. knock-out and knock-in cell lines): vector design and construction, transient transfections, stable cell line generation, single cell cloning, flow cytometry, etc.

* Characterize engineered cell lines using PCR, qPCR, NGS, etc.

* Perform cell culture passage, maintenance and cryopreservation of recombinant cell lines.

* Analyze and interpret data, conduct troubleshooting in support of assay development.

* Record data accurately, prepare reports and presentations to effectively communicate results, progress and plans to supervisor and senior management.

* Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and superb organizational skills, as well as a proven ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

* Work independently and in a fast-paced team environment, learn and apply new scientific principles rapidly.

Basic Qualifications

* This position requires a minimum of a PhD with 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Immunology or related field.

Required experience

* In-depth knowledge of signal transduction pathways

* Hands-on experience in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and cell line engineering techniques, and strong publication record.

Preferred Qualifications

* Genome editing by CRISPR/Cas9, reporter gene bioassay development and analysis, familiarity with health authority guidance on cell-based bioassays
