Marketing Communications Specialist – job description
This position reports to the Marketing Communications and Services Manager.
The Marketing Communications Department for US Wound has three primary responsibilities:
Provide in-house agency function for creation and/or production of campaigns, print and digital materials, videos, presentation decks, websites, etc. Manage the literature ordering site Review all promotional materials for branding/messaging and facilitate the review process utilizing the MRM System (Orbis)
The Marketing Communications Specialist will work other members of the MarCom Team to ensure internal stakeholders have seamless delivery of leadership, guidance and support needed to fulfill the Team’s primary responsibilities.
This role will liaise with all members of the MarCom Team to fulfill in–house projects including, but not limited to:
- Simple branding graphics
- Limited copywriting and proofing
- Print production management
- Materials for conferences, meetings, programs, etc.
- Tracking, version control and management of art files, images, digital materials, videos, etc.
- Development of all types of sales, educational, training, and customer resource/engagement materials
Additionally, the Specialist helps establish and maintain materials on the literature ordering and fulfillment site. Working with the Team, the Specialist will assist in management of inventory, creating reports on inventory status, coordination of special orders, and administration of the site (eg, adding/removing users, setup info for materials, ordering levels, etc.)
The MarCom Team facilitates the review process – ensuring submissions are complete and review ready, supporting the initiators in obtaining and understanding required edits from the reviews, and notifying the initiator when the material is final approved. The Team is also required to maintain the complete records of the review process and to remove expired or obsolete materials. The Team maintains current reviewed documents, an electronic library of approved materials, archives files and materials.
The MarCom Team leads the implementation of Global brand guidelines for US Wound, and this position requires excellent working knowledge of Smith & Nephew’s brand guides. Besides providing guidance during the development of materials, the Specialist will at times also serve as a reviewer for materials developed by other departments and/or externally – specifically reviewing for branding compliance and consistency of messaging and style.
The role requires 3 years minimum professional experience coupled with a Bachelor's Degree or 6 years minimum experience in a marketing communications role. Experience within a Medical Device and/or Pharmaceutical company is a plus.
The Specialists must have the ability to multi-task effectively, to meet deadlines and work accurately and effectively in an environment where priorities are changing rapidly.
Computer literacy skills needed include, but are not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and Adobe.
