Job Description:

Description: The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) -CORR provides direct patient care and assists with admissions. Provides professional clinical assistance to Nurse Assistants, Student Vocational Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Technicians.

Typical Duties:

* Performs complete data collection of patient and other various duties and direct care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history.

* Delivers nursing care to assigned group of patients including education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, and pain management utilizing the nursing process.

* Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.

* Participates in the performance improvement process within the Network, Hospital, and department.

* Guides, educates, and provides leadership as a preceptor to new LVNs following 6 months of employment.

* Conducts specified bedside laboratory tests.

* Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.

* Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.

* Records patients' medical information and vital signs.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

* Graduated from an accredited school of vocational nursing.

* Completion of unit specific competency based orientation program within 90 days.

Preferred Education and Experience:

* 6 plus months of experience in an inpatient setting..

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

* Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners.

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

* Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
