Job Description:

Description: The Infection Control Data Analyst coordinates, reinforces, and implements activities associated with the JPS Health Network Infection Control Program. This job is responsible for complying with data reporting to regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission (JCAHO), Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA), Centers for Medicaid and Medicare, the Texas Public Health Department and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Typical Duties:

* Responsible for entering all data into National Health Safety Network (NHSN) including monthly denominator data for surgeries, monthly patient days for all units, monthly ventilator, urinary catheter and central line device data.

* Reviews, analyzes, and enter data that supports the organization's Patient Safety and Infection Control Programs as requested by the Texas Department of Health Services (TDHS).

* Responsible for reporting all communicable diseases to Texas Department of Health Services (TDHS) within required timelines.

* Responsible to review all labs daily to appropriately identify cases to report for resistant organisms, communicable diseases and those that warrant further clinical review by the Infection Preventionist.

* Abstracts data from various sources, including but not limited to, medical records documentation systems, and clinician reports against prescribed indicators. Maintains accurate data systems and documents.

* Provides reports, including written summaries, data, information on special projects and compliance documentation to Texas Health Care (THC), ACCLAIM and external agencies.

* Responsible for developing reports of aggregated information from the National Health Safety Network (NHSN) for internal scorecards, work group agenda items and any other requests for data presentations.

* Presents pertinent and valuable information to various groups of people.

* Responsible for completing assigned Performance Improvement Projects that require data collection, collation and interpretation.

* Develops and maintains a working knowledge of Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other regulatory body standards and guidelines as they relate to the field of Infection Prevention and Control.

* Works with developing and maintaining databases, including abstracting data and creating reports.

* Available for on call as scheduled for Infection Control related issues, problems, and questions.

* Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Epidemiology, Public Health or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.

* 1 year of related job experience.

Required Licensure/Certification:

* If applicable team members in this job that hold a professional licensure or credentialed must keep licensure and credentials current.

* Competency Base Orientation completed within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Education and Experience:

* Master's Degree in in Nursing, Epidemiology, Public Health or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.

* 2 plus years of experience in hospital infection control or public health.

* 1 plus years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.

Preferred Specialized Training:

* National Healthcare Safety Network Training.
