Since the landfall of Hurricane Harvey, several collaboratives, groups and coalitions have been created in response to the needs of the impacted cities. CHILDREN AT RISK CREATED THE Hurricane Harvey Children's Recovery Collaborative (HHCRC) in partnership with several nonprofit organizations and government agencies in the Greater Houston area. There is still a need for collaboration and alignment, and to gather information about the continued impacts of Harvey, informing the public about the recovery. This position will conduct research on the impact of Hurricane Harvey on children in the areas of: Child Care; Food Insecurity; Education; Health & Mental Health; Housing; Vulnerable Populations. Inform HHCRC members on the funding allocations related to Harvey recovery, especially sas it relates to children. CHILDREN AT RISK serves as a catalyst for change to improve the quality of life for children through strategic research, public policy analysis, education, collaboration and advocacy. The focus of CHILDREN AT RISK is to make children's needs a priority and to ensure ample resources are available for children and their families to thrive. CHILDREN AT RISK fulfills the holistic needs of children throughout the state of Texas by focusing on four main issue areas that improve the quality of life for children. CHILDREN AT RISK aims to enhance, not duplicate, the work of other nonprofits. Through research and careful examination of where current gaps exist, the organization identified the priority issue areas of:1)Enhancing parent and family well-being,2)Strengthening public education, 3)Ending child trafficking, and4)Improving child health and nutrition.
