Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed a Masters Degree in Nursing. There are two dimensions of care to be delivered. The first is the client's first contact in any given episode of illness with the clinic that leads to a decision of what must be done to help resolve his/her problem, and second, the responsibility for the continuum of care, such as maintenance of health evaluation, and management of symptoms, and appropriate referrals in a collaborative effort with physicians. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: The ARNP functions under the preceptorship of Family Physicians, and Urgent Care Medical Director and has the primary responsibilities of: • The assessment of the health status and provision of total health care with collaboration of other health professionals for a specified patient population with chronic or disabling diseases. • Screening patients having problems requiring differential medical, nursing diagnosis and therapies. • Initiating appropriate medical and nursing referrals. • Acting as a role model and consultant to other nurses. • Development and implementation of stress management, diabetic, heart disease, and weight reduction/control programs.

Qualifications:

* Licensed APRN in the State of Kansas

* Current Basic Life Support (and ACLS, PALS, ATLS) through the American Heart Association is required.
