About the Position:

The surrounding community of Fort Polk is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano and Anacoco. The nearest cities are Alexandria (45 miles northeast) and Lake Charles (55 miles south). The area is considered rural with Kisatchie National Forest, which offers hunting and recreational activities located nearby. Also, located nearby are Toledo Bend Lake, Vernon Lake and Anacoco Lake for those interested in fishing, boating, swimming etc.

* Establish and manage procedures for the collection of hospital charges for inpatient and outpatient services, meals, and other services provided to multiple categories of authorized beneficiaries.

* Ensure billing, collecting, and accounting procedures for per diem and subsistence charges for inpatient services.

* Sign and endorse checks, deposit slips, certifie vouchers, collection schedules, and statements.

* Serve as Custodian of the Patient Trust Fund (PTF) with responsibility for the receipt, safekeeping, disbursement, and accounting of patient?s funds and valuables deposited.

* Establish and ensure compliance with procedures necessary for strict accountability and internal control of all fund activity for which the incumbent is responsible and accountable.

* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

* This position requires a seasonal mandatory Influenza vaccine. All employees assigned to a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) are required to be screened for applicable immunizations.

* Financial Management Level 1 certification requirement is listed below and should be completed within two (2) years of the employee's start date. This position also requires a continuing education training of 40 hours every two years after certified.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes tracking transactions on outstanding accounts receivable; recording non-medical and medical collections; depositing of monies; understanding and complying with governing regulations to determine proper treatment of financial transactions; ensuring funds are recorded correctly in the official accounting system for medical facilities (such as: General Fund Enterprise Business System [GFEBS], Automated Disbursing System [ADS], Collection Information Repository [CIR], Pay Gov, Composite Health Care System [CHCS], etc.) for items such as medical accounts receivable, reimbursable, non-medical collections, and/or dining facility collections; identifying sources of reimbursable earnings and ensuring accurate billing, collecting, depositing and/or reporting of these earnings; posting checks received from insurance companies to appropriate computerized ledgers and subsidiary ledgers; and/or ensuring records of billed claims have adequate audit trails.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
